GRAND FINAL PREVIEW

The Bloods take on Caulfield Grammarians in the VAFA Premier C Grand Final this Saturday. The game starts at 2.20pm and will be played at Casey Fields. This day has been the target from when pre-season training started back in November. Now the boys aim to take the ultimate prize. It will be a great game.

A total of 36 individual players have donned the Magenta and Black in the seniors this year – all contributing so the club gets to play in another Grand Final. Indeed all players throughout the club have played their part as have the loyal band of volunteers off the field.

Caulfield finished on top of the ladder at the end of the normal season but we more than matched them, scoring two emphatic wins, including the memorable first semi-final victory. Like in 2015, we have shown that a determined, committed attitude will take you a long way in the finals. The boys have that in spades. In a football sense, there is plenty of dash through the midfield and off half back, while the forward line is potent and difficult to contain. The onballers have been magnificent all year and there is a good blend of youthful exuberance and experience across every line.

The return to B Grade is for the club, while a Grand Final victory would very much be for the players. So let’s get around them and make some noise there on Saturday. Festivities after the game will be at Princes Park to which all supporters are welcome to attend.

Supporters are also encouraged to come along and watch the last training session for the year and partake in a few refreshments. Training normally starts around 6.30. See you there and on Saturday.

There has been a terrific response to the clubs’ Grand Final Breakfast at the Grand Hyatt.  Dave Hughes and Denise Scott are the headliners and are bound to entertain. There are also plenty of silent auction items up for grabs, including lounge furniture, fishing trips, horse racing events along with the traditional footy jumpers – including a Richmond one. You can bid even if not attending. It is not too late to book a seat at this traditionally brilliant morning so call hyxy on 0407 220952.
