2022 Appointment: Head Physio
Av Kumar OHAFC Head Physio re-commits
OHAFC is proud to announce that Av is joining forces with us as again in season 2022 as we continue to drive all parts of the club forward. Player wellbeing and associated player health management continues to be an important focus area for the Committee.
Av has been with the club since 2017 in which the club launched the inaugural Women’s team and achieved premiership success with the Senior Mens’ in VAFA C grade. Since this time there has been a significant growth in the support staff with four physiotherapists working alongside each OHAFC team and the new addition of the strength and conditioning role in 2021. Pleasingly there has also been great support from upcoming physiotherapy students every season.
Some highlights for the most recent season include provision of a qualified physiotherapist for every OHAFC team throughout the season, which is an enormous outcome for any VAFA club, the lockdown strength and conditioning programs provided by Julian Chu helped to keep the players active and the additional use and integration of GPS units to provide sport science insight are just a few department highlights.
Av said “I’m excited to continue my involvement with OHAFC into next season given its outstanding culture and demonstrated commitment to providing excellent health services for all players. I’ve identified some growth areas including offseason strength and conditioning, improved physiotherapist clinical development, concussion management and more extensive technology integration.”
As always Av is eager to grow the OHAFC allied health program and welcomes any insight and feedback. So feel free to reach Av to discuss anything clinical or non clinical at avnikuma@gmail.com or 0414812511.
The Club is also very keen to support any physiotherapy students within the Old Haileybury network that are looking for experience within sports physiotherapy.
